C. 996 GT3 & GT3 R

The 996 GT3 is a road-legal car designed mainly for the racetrack. It uses a naturally aspirated (non-turbo) engine, is lighter than regular models, and focuses on driver skill, balance, and control rather than raw speed.

The GT3 R made its first appearance at the 1999 24 Hours of Le Mans (a legendary endurance race held annually in France). After this, the 996 GT3 R went on to compete in the American Le Mans Series, where it won most of its class races between 1999 and 2001.

NOTE: The GT3 RS is not a separate category but a more track-focused version of the GT3. It is lighter, stiffer, and more aggressive, with comfort sacrificed for performance. The GT3 RS became most famous in later generations, especially the 997.

D. 996 GT2

The 996 GT2 is far more extreme. It uses a turbocharged engine, sends all its power to the rear wheels, and has very few driver aids. It was built mainly to meet racing rules and is brutally fast but difficult to drive.
